AMPATI: Deputy Chief Minister R C Laloo on Tuesday instructed implementing departments to disburse funds meant for flood relief to beneficiaries immediately.
The instruction came during a review meeting held at Ampati circuit house with line departments on the natural calamities that occurred during the year 2014-2015 and the recent cyclonic storm that destroyed close to 300 houses affecting many in South West Garo Hills.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also in charge of revenue and disaster management, came down to Ampati specifically to review the relief fund disbursal status.
Stating that it is important that funds meant for relief be disbursed immediately by implementing departments Laloo emphasized on speedy disbursal to better assist the victims.
During the meeting, line departments brought forward several issues hampering the speedy disbursal of funds including the need of opening new bank accounts for beneficiaries.
South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner later informed that another review meeting would be held next week to check the status of the progress of the disbursal process.
