NONGPOH: In a bid to protect the environment, the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP) on Friday organized a poster campaign on the theme ‘protection of environment’ at St. Michael’s Higher Secondary School, Umsning.
Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek along with school children, teachers, youths and others from the area attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, Hek lauded the organizers for the initiative besides showering praise on school children for their interest in taking part in the event which aimed at creating awareness on environment protection.
“Practice and disseminate the message to others to save the environment,” he said adding that planting of trees in all waste lands and even on the road side of the newly constructed four lane will lessen air pollution in the area.”
The programme ended with distribution of prizes to the winners of poster and banner competitions and handing over of 50 chairs contributed by the CORP to the St. Michael’s Higher Secondary School, Umsning.
