NSCN groups to extend ceasefire agreement with Centre
Kohima: A team of GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) Cease-Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) members led by its supervisor Jack Zhimomi has left for Delhi to sign extension of ceasefire agreement with the Centre. On the formation of NSCN/GPRN (Reformation), which is set to sign the ceasefire pact with the Union Government on Monday, sources said forming a new group at this crucial time, when Nagas in general were earnestly yearning for absolute unity was mischievous and added that it can never be condoned. Meanwhile, NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) led by Y Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak is all set to sign a ceasefire agreement with the Centre on Monday. NSCN(R) was all set to sign a ceasefire agreement and also discussed some important points for the proposed ceasefire ground rules (CFGR), statement said. (UNI)
Nagaland govt extends aid to Nepal
Kohima: The Government of Nagaland has extended an amount of Rs 10 lakh as aid towards the earthquake victims in Nepal. Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister T R Zeliang has donated Rs 5 lakh each to Nepal as earthquake relief fund. Acharya and Zeliang in a joint statement extended deep sympathy for the people of Nepal in the wake of the earthquake which has killed thousands and rendered several others homeless. An amount of Rs 5 lakh each from the Governor and Chief Minister will be given to the Nepal as a small token on behalf of the Nagaland Government, the statement said. The Governor appealed to the people for generous donation as aid to the quake hit country. (PTI)
KPLT chief shot dead
Diphu: Militant outfit KPLT Chairman Botcha Bey alias Bijoy Terang (28) was shot dead allegedly by his colleague at Rongnihand in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, police said on Sunday. The Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) chief was suspected to have been killed by his Finance Secretary in his house last night, Superintendent of Police Mukdhya Jyoti Mahanta said. About seven months ago, KPLT had split into three factions with the main part headed by Botcha operating in West Karbi Anglong district, Mahanta said. Botcha was, however, scheduled to surrender with 20 odd members, he said. (PTI)
All Mizos in Nepal safe
Aizawl: All Mizos living in Nepal, many of them missionaries and evangelist teachers, were reportedly safe, reports from Nepal said. Major Sangliana of the Salvation Army, working with his wife in Kathmandu informed sources over phone that there were around 50 Mizo families in Nepal all of whom were safe. Sources in the Presbyterian Church said that there were around 30 missionaries working under the church in Nepal while the Baptist Church of Mizoram sent one Pastor and a teacher who were living there with their family members.
