Major reshuffle in State Judiciary
SHILLONG: Two Judges – one heading the special court dealing with the ILP related cases and another overseeing the charge sheet filed against Cabinet Minister Deborah Ch Marak and political activist Tennydard Marak – are among those transferred in a major reshuffle of the Judiciary.
The Registrar General, High Court of Meghalaya, in an order issued on May 6 said that the Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya, has transferred as many as nine judges including R. Rymbai, Judicial Magistrate, First Class, East Khasi Hills, who was heading the special court on ILP related case to try the over Rs. 31 crore damage suit filed against the leaders of various pro- ILP groups.
Rymbai has been transferred to East Garo Hills, while F.S. Sangma, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of East Garo Hills who was dealing with the charge sheet against Deborah and Tennydard over the duo’s alleged links with GNLA, has been transferred to West Khasi Hills in place of B. Joshi who is now the CJM, Ri-Bhoi.
As per the order, District and Sessions Judge, East Garo Hills, W. Diengdoh has been transferred to West Garo Hills while the District and Sessions Judge, East Khasi Hills, A.M. Ripnar, has been transferred to East Garo Hills.
District and Sessions Judge, West Garo Hills, E. Kharumnuid, has been transferred to West Jaintia Hills to replace B. Mawrie who has been given charge of East Khasi Hills.
According to the notification, B. Khriam, CJM, Ri-Bhoi, has been transferred to East Garo Hills.
Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Sohra Civil Sub Division, La Ikynti Kharshiing, has been given charge of East Khasi Hills.
