Flash flood disturbs normal life

NONGSTOIN: Yet another flash flood occurred in West Khasi Hills District on Wednesday when heavy rainfall that lasted for three days hit West Khasi Hills District.
The rainfall began on Monday and lasted till Wednesday. No casualties have been reported so far except but the traffic jam over Nongstoin- Shillong Road, Nongstoin- Mawkyrwat Road, electricity and internet problem and closing down of some schools and institutions disturbed normal life.  The rainfall has affected some schools and institutions in Nongstoin including the office of the Meghalaya Rural Bank, Nondein Branch, Ri Lyngngam Secondary School, New Nongstoin Government L.P School, Mount Harmon L.P School and others which are situated nearby the river side.
Nongstoin Market also witnessed the affect of flood as many shops located nearby Nondein River have been covered by water and most of houses have also been affected by the rainfall.
