Royals tame Shillong United

SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC put up a thoroughly professional show to tame Shillong United 2-0 in a Shillong Premier League match at the JN Stadium in Shillong on Monday.
Nabachandra Singh was the hero of the day scoring a goal each in both halves to seal a comprehensive  win for the Royals.
Nabachandra struck the nets in the 21st and 50th minutes to snatch the game away  from a Shillong United side which looked a little out of sorts at the face of persistence from the Royals.
Assisted by Sushil Meitei, Nabachandra made a good run forward and sliced a left footer into the edge  of the nets on the right to give RWFC the lead.
The Royals began to completely dominate the proceedings thereafter denying almost any possession to their rivals.
Barely five minutes into the second half RWFC struck again through Nabachandra taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Shillong United never looked like making a comeback and even though the Royals won by a margin of two goals to none, it was by far one of their best performances in the SPL this season.
The Royals will next take on Shillong Lajong FC.
Mewnwhile, Umphrup held Nongrim Hills to a 1-1 draw after earning a 62nd minute penalty in a Second Division game.
Nongrim Hills were in control after Arshon Rynjah scored for them in the 54th minute.
However, a 62nd minute foul forced the referee into awarding Umphrup a penalty which was converted by Shanborlang Nengnong. In Third Division football, Lawsothun and Mawkriah West drew 1-1 while Young XI claimed a 3-0 win over Lawmei.
