SHILLONG: There is a good news for Umroi airport as the Airport Authority of India has finally invited tenders for installation of Instrument Landing System there.
The installation of Instrument Landing System at the Shillong airport was approved long time back but the tenders could not be floated due to a land dispute.
Sources informed that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 14411414 and the period of completion of the work is eight months.
The Instrument Landing System, once installed at the Airport, would provide better visibility to flights even during bad weather.
Sources also informed that the tenders has also been floated for repairing of perimeter road at the airport with an estimated cost of Rs 2893235 and the period of completion of work is four months.
