Google paid tribute to legendary qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 67th birth anniversary by dedicating a doodle to him. The doodle shows the Saanwre singer raising his left hand to form the ‘l’ of Google. Born on October 13, 1948 in Faisalabad, Pakistan, Khan made the genere of sufi qawwali popular internationally. The singer died of cardiac arrest on August 17, 1997 at the age of 48.
Khan has popular qawwalis and sufi songs like Allah Ho, Afreen Afreen Tere Bin Nahin Lagda, Kinna Sohna and Saanu Ik Pal Chain Na Aave to his credit. He also crooned hit numbers for Bollywood films including Dhadkan, Kachche Dhage, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Bandit Queen. (PTI)
