BSF seize cattle, logs, liquor on border

SHILLONG: BSF troops have seized as many as 29 cattle at Tuka, Muktapur in West Jaintia Hills District and Nilwagiri in South Garo Hills District, worth more than Rs.3.89 lakh while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India.
However, the smugglers fled away taking advantage of the darkness and the bad weather.
Besides, the BSF troops have also seized 119 cattle, 366.37 cu.ft. wooden logs, 20  boats, 663 bottles of liquor and 1850 pieces of bamboo, worth more than Rs.33.20 lakh while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the Meghalaya border in the past week.
The BSF said that vigilant troops have been effectively dominating border and foiling the attempts of smugglers to exploit the unfenced border area for smuggling.
