Security tightened for Oct 30 ‘mega procession’

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills district administration has beefed up security measures in view of the ‘mega procession’ called by  Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SKNSKBH) on October 30.
Indicating this here on Wednesday,  East khasi Hills district police chief M Kharkrang said that all the necessary measures have been put in place to ensure law and order during the rally. The SKNSKBH has organized this rally to protest dilly-dally on the part of the state Governor in giving his assent to the Village Administration Bill (VAB) passed by both KHADC and JHADC. The SKNSKBH has raised several other issues.
According to Kharkrang, additional deployment of security personnel will be made during the rally. “Police personnel from other districts are being brought to Shillong for law and order duty on that day,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the district administration has already granted permission for the rally.
