Priyanka Chopra teams with PETA to voice robotic elephant
Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has joined hands     with PETA, to voice a robotic elephant, that will go     on a school tour across the US, Europe and India. Named Ellie, the life-size mechanical elephant is a part of, PETA’s new campaign to help educate children about elephants and captivity, said The Hollywood Reporter. “Ellie and I are teaching kids that elephants belong in the wild with their families, and that they suffer greatly in captivity, in which they’re kept chained, forced to learn tricks, and deprived of all the things that make them happy, like family and freedom,” Priyanka said. The 33-year-old actress, who is currently seen in thriller series “Quantico”, will ‘speak’ to students and share Ellie’s story, about separation from her mother, physical punishment endured in the circus and, finally, a happy life at a sanctuary after being rescued. The “Mary Kom” star described elephants as “magnificent creatures who desperately need our help and protection.” PETA and its supporters have been working on behalf of elephants, documenting alleged abuse in circuses and other forms of captivity. Mark Waters to direct ‘Bad Santa 2’
Mean Girls” helmer Mark Waters has been roped in     by Miramax and Broad Green Pictures to direct     Billy Bob Thornton in “Bad Santa 2”. Geyer Kosinski will produce. Miramax will partner with Broad Green Pictures to co-finance and co-produce, said The Hollywood Reporter. The 2003 original grossed USD 60 million domestically on a budget of USD 23 million. Tony Cox and Brett Kelly, who were the part of original film, are also returning as Marcus and Thurman Merman, respectively. The film is expected to hit theatres next year. (PTI)
Anne Hathaway, Daniel Radcliffe to star in ‘The Modern Ocean’
Anne Hathway and Daniel Radcliffe have joined the     ensemble cast of shipping drama “The Modern     Ocean”. To be directed by Shane Carruth, the film also stars Keanu Reeves, Chloe Grace Moretz, Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield, Abraham Attah and Jeff Goldblum, reported Variety. Blackbird’s Lawrence Inglee, Carruth’s erbp Film and Tadmor’s Eyal Rimmon are producing the project. “The Modern Ocean” revolves around the competition for valuable shipping routes, the search for the hidden precious material and the powerful need for vengeance in a world filled with mysterious techniques and rivalries. Carruth first divulged the project details in late September. (PTI)
