JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Union has extended its support to the Kiang Nangbah Government College Students’ Union with regards to their demands including unpaid salary to some of the college staff, pending inauguration of the women’s hostel and extension of the college building.
“Kiang Nangbah is the only government college in Jaintia Hills and has a large enrolment. The demands of the KNGCSU are genuine; therefore, the JSU has extended its full support,” JSU education secretary Deibha Syngkon said.
The JSU has earlier had submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister in charge Education, R.C. Laloo in this regard but to no avail.
“Lack of response from the minister only indicates that the State government has not taken any step to improve the condition of the college,” the JSU added.
