Children’s Day celebrated in State

TURA: The 126th birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India,Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated at DRDA Conference Hall, Tura on the occasion of Children’s Day.
The vibrant and colourful event was organised by the office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO), Tura in collaboration with the District Administration, West Garo Hills.
The event was participated by more than 10 schools from Tura, who actively participated in the programme, wherein various competitions were organized to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Chief Guest of the day, AVD Shira, MCS, ADC Tura wished the children and calling it as a day of awakening also remembered Nehru as the ‘Man of Destiny’ and the Architect of Modern India.
While reminding that youth and childhood days are the best part of one’s life, she sent out the message to both the teachers and the children through Nehru’s immortal lines that ‘Children are like buds in a garden & should be carefully & lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation & the citizens of tomorrow.
The day’s programme witnessed innovative quiz competition, presentation of various cultural items, speeches, video documentaries and distribution of prizes to all the winners.
The programme concluded with the distribution of gifts ‘my lucky number’ to all participating children.
