Gratitude
Kakoli Dasguptadatta and Piyali Dey Purkayastha have extended their heartfelt gratitude to Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club for organizing a Marathon for Road Safety on November 15 in memory of (L)Aniruddha Dutta and Rahul Dey Purkayastha who died on April 23 due to rash drunken driving. This earnest initiative will surely go a long way to accompany all sectors of like-minded people in matters related to road safety awareness.
Rally to oppose AFSPA
A rally on ‘Defending Human Rights in Garo Hills- Oppose AFSPA’ will take place on November 16 at 11am from Fire Brigade Ground to Additional Secretariat Shillong. The rally is focused on the fight against state sponsored terror and non state aggression.
Art Therapy Workshop
SAN-KER, in collaboration with the AESTHETIC team, a socio-eco-cultural society from Assam will organize an “Art Therapy Workshop” on November 16, 17 and 18. The workshop will focus on bringing out the aesthetic talents of patients and their best works will be showcased at the “Kala Sammanvayaa”, an annual International Art Festival that aims to unite different forms of art and enable artists from all over the world to express and showcase their creativity. Noted artists from Shillong will also participate in this workshop.
Award Entry date extended
Population First, an NGO working on population and health issues within the framework of women’s rights and social development, has extended the entries for the Northeast for Laadli Media & Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2013-14 (LMAAGS) to November 25.
Living Roots Eco Challenge
Imagenation is collaborating with the NEHU Alumni Association to organize the Living Roots Eco Challenge at Nongblai village on November 21. Two Hollywood Celebrities, Vinnie Tortorich as well as trainer and actor Serena Scott Thomas with their team will participate in the Living Roots Eco Challenge, an adventure sports trekking event. They will also hold a series of Workshops on health, fitness, entrepreneurship, branding and inspirational Hollywood success stories at NEHU, NEIGRIHMS and Lady Keane College. The Interactive Session will be held on November 23 at 11 am at NEHU campus, 3 pm at NEIGRIHMS and on November 24 at 10:30 am at lady Keane College.
