CEM authorised to take the final call on nominated member

SHILLONG: The Congress-led Executive Committee (EC) of KHADC while deciding not to re-nominate Congress member Gabriel Wahlang to the EC, has entrusted the KHADC chief PN Syiem to take a decision on nominating an efficient member.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the EC held here on Monday.
Wahlang, who was the Deputy Chairman in KHADC, gave up the membership of the Council to contest the Nongstoin by-poll. He, however, failed to make it to the Assembly.
The EC was not in favour of re-nominating Wahlang.
The meeting decided to hold a special session on or before December 15 to discuss in the House the need to bring in a fresh blood as the nominated MDC.
The KHADC chief said that the EC could not come to any conclusion on the name to be recommended as the new nominated member during Monday’s meeting.
Since the EC has endorsed the matter to be decided by the KHADC CEM , “the issue will be finally decided during the special session”, Syiem added.
GHADC nomination : Meanwhile, after the meeting of an NPP delegation comprising MDCs with Meghalaya Governor, the party leader Conrad Sangma, whose name was approved by the GHADC EC as nominated member, said that the Government was taking too much time to approve the nomination.
“The reason for the delay best known to the government only”,  Sangma added.
It was on November 2 that the  EC of GHADC had approved the name of  Sangma as nominated member.
The next day, his name was forwarded to the District Council Affairs department for approval.
After the nod from Government, Sangma is expected to take over as the CEM of GHADC.
