SHILLONG: The pending petition related to the Education scam will come up for hearing on January 4 next in the Supreme Court.
Earlier, the case was listed for October 12, but it was deferred.
A lawyer dealing with the case said on Thursday that the matter will be taken up for hearing on January 4.
Several LP school teachers, who were affected due to the scam for the last two years, had filed the special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the State government.
Earlier in April, 2014, another petition was filed by several ‘tainted’ teachers whose services had been terminated.
Following this in an order on April 21, 2014, the Apex Court termed as invalid the formation of High Level Scrutiny Committee (HLSC) which had probed the Education scam.
It was the Division Bench of the Gauhati High Court which had ordered the formation of the HLSC.
After receiving the copy of the high court order on HLSC, it was on February 28, 2014 that the State government had terminated the services of 246 tainted teachers based on the recommendations of the HLSC.
