Cabinet nod to salary hike for MPSC chief, members

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet on Friday decided to revise the pay and allowance of the chairperson and members of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission.
Speaking to media persons after a Cabinet meeting here, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the decision has been taken based on the representation submitted to the government by the chairman and members of the MPSC sometimes back.
“Department of Personnel was asked to examine the proposal and they have gone through various departments seeking their views on the proposal,” Sangma informed.
According to the chief minister, the salary of a MPSC member will now be equal to that of a head of department and will be increased from Rs.31,300 to Rs.46,760 per month.
The salary of the chairperson will be equivalent to a secretary and will be raised from Rs.35,500 to Rs.48,980.
For retired members and chairpersons of the MPSC, the chief minister said the amount will be the last pay drawn minus pension.
