NONGPOH: Coming down heavily on the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government towards the demand of the HANM, Women’s Wing two pressure groups, RBYF and the HNYF northern region, have said that the authorities were busy appeasing militant groups while turning a blind eye to the “border people’s genuine demands”.
Slamming the government for signing a peace pact with the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA), the RBYF and HNYF said that such acts encouraged militant outfits.
While extending support to the indefinite hunger strike called by the HANM women’s wing the pressure groups said instead of rewarding the militants the Government should construct the road which would residents of as many as 18 villages in Ri Bhoi.
It may be mentioned that the HANM women’s wing members are protesting against the ‘indifferent attitude’ of the Government towards their demand for construction of a single lane road connecting 13 Mile to Killing in Ri Bhoi for the benefit of 18 villages.
“If no positive response comes from the government we will not hesitate to take the agitation to the next level,” the pressure groups added.
