Directive to public prosecutors

SHILLONG: The law department has asked the public prosecutors of all the districts to ensure speedy justice to the victims of rape and other heinous crimes.
In a letter addressed to the public prosecutors, the joint secretary, law department said, “in all cases related to the victims of rape, trafficking, torture, abuse and exploitation of children in the state, serious and speedy action should be taken whenever they come up in any court in your jurisdiction”.
It was after a letter was sent by CSWO President Agnes  Kharshiing  a year ago ( September 24,2014) that that  the law department official wrote to the public prosecutors on December 15 for necessary action.
Kharshiing appreciated the role of law department in following up the matter.
