NONGPOH: Acting on the request of two Ri Bhoi organisations – RBYF and HNYF – and also from residents of 18 villages of the district, the HANM Women’s Wing has decided to postpone their indefinite hunger strike in view of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The HANM Women’s Wing had been staging an indefinite hunger strike since December 14 to pressurize the State government to meet their demand for construction of a single lane road from 13 Mile to Killing to connect 18 border villages of Meghalaya and Assam in the district.
The agitators decided to call off their indefinite hunger strike with the assertion that their agitation would resume after the Christmas and New Year festivities and continue until their demands were fulfilled.
