SHILLONG: The CSWO has filed a complaint against one Daniel Rani of Sohkyrbam village in Ri-Bhoi for allegedly raping a minor girl and threatening her not to disclose the episode.
As per the FIR filed by CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing on behalf of the girl’s family, the incident came to light on September 25 when the girl was taken to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh for a checkup.  Tests revealed that the girl was nine weeks pregnant.
The victim then revealed that she was raped by one Daniel Rani while she was tending the cattle.
While calling for the immediate arrest of Rani, Kharshiing said that poverty and illiteracy of the victim’s family led to the delay in the filing of the FIR.
