Party members refuse to accept Shibun as prez

SHILLONG: State Council Members of Meghalaya BJP who are waiting for the central leaders to conduct fresh election to the post of party president have disagreed with the statement of Nalin S.Kohli that,”for something that is done correctly and legally, there is no question of re-opening”, as appeared in this daily.
The members rued that since the election for the post of president and National Council members was to be held on January 2 and the lone candidate, Khlur Singh Lyngdoh was proposed by all 44 State Council members, Shibun Lyngdoh’s name announced by Nalin Kohli was not justified.
The affected BJP leaders said that all State Mandal Presidents and State Council Members were not consulted by Kohli before he resorted to the arbitrary imposition of his decision.  “Therefore we, the State Council members of BJP want the Central leaders to conduct fresh election for the post of president”, a statement issued by the disgruntled members said.
Commenting on the statement of North East coordinator Ranjit Mazumdar who said that all the state council members, state office bearers, and district presidents have attended the meeting held on January 2, the State BJP members reiterated the need to follow transparent procedure as per the provision of party’s constitution in the election.
Support to Shibun
Meanwhile, the  BJP South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) has supported Shibun Lyngdoh’s appointment as State Party President. In a statement to the press, president of BJP, SWKH, Reston Myrthong lauded Nalin Kohli, incharge Meghalaya, Ranjit Mazumdar  and Maheish Girri for their decision to appoint Lyngdoh as president.
Myrthong mentioned that the party has high hopes on Lyngdoh to steer the party to victory in the coming 2018 elections.
The party circle has criticized the people who opposed his appointment and invited them to come to  an understanding and not to tarnish the image of the party.
