Congress calls strike on Jan 18 in Tripura

Agartala: Opposition Congress on Wednesday called a dawn-to-dusk strike in three districts – Dhalai, Unokoti and North Tripura on January 18 in support of their 20-point charter of demands.
Tripura Congress president Birajit Sinha said with the 12-hours strike in three districts, the party will continue their agitation against the misrule of the Left Front government in Tripura.
He said the three district presidents of Congress committees unanimously announced the strike in support of the demands like setting up a Railway division in Dharmanagar, expansion of Kailashahar airport, central pay-scale for the pensioners and state government employees of Tripura. The demands include setting up of CBI inquiry for alleged siphoning of government funds in different rural development blocks of the state, stringent measures to curb growing domestic violence and crime against women.
