KHADC gives 2 months’ deadline to convene Executive Dorbar meet

SHILLONG: In the wake of the ongoing controversy over the alleged misappropriation of funds in the Hima Mylliem, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM has given two months’ time to the Executive Dorbar of Paiem Latho Manik Syiem to convene a general meeting of the Hima’s functionaries.
The order has been effective from September 24 and ends on January 24.
“They have requested for extending the date in view of the failing health condition of Latho Manik Syiem and we will examine the same.” A KHADC functionary said
It may be mentioned that Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Latho Manik Syiem’s actions came under scanner with as many as 28 Myntris out of the total 44 demanding his immediate removal.

The Myntris also claimed that the present Syiem has not convened any Hima Dorbar and the various Myntris were unaware of the problems faced by the residents. This they said was in violation of the Hima Mylliem Act, 2007 which states that the Hima Dorbar has to be convened once every year.
As to the present turn of events, there were complaints against Latho Manik Syiem, and Thwelson Manik Syiem (Deputy Syiem) by initially  6 Myntris of Hima Mylliem who have called for their removal based on various charges.
Over the alleged funds misappropriation, the Myntris claimed that Latho Manik Syiem withdrew money from the bank account of Co-operative Apex Ltd which was revealed through RTI.
