SHILLONG: A woman, who was allegedly assaulted by a junior engineer of PHE department identified as Sainborsing Lyngdoh, has moved the Principal Secretary and the Chief Engineer of PHE department seeking disciplinary action against the guilty.
A criminal case has been filed against Lyngdoh, who has reportedly absconded after committing the crime.
However, the accused secured an interim bail from the District Council Court.
In the letter addressed to the PHE officials on January 14, the victim, a class 1 contractor of PHE department, alleged that on January 5 at around 10. 30 pm, the junior engineer demanded ‘commission’ from her when she met him at Mawlai,.
As she refused to pay him any money, he assaulted her and even threatened to kidnap her, the victim said in the letter.  Later on January 7, she filed an FIR at Mawlai police station. The victim also enclosed the copy of FIR and medical certificate along with the letter addressed to the PHE officials to substantiate her claim.
Stating that the accused has been threatening her directly or indirectly, she said, “I am under constant threat”.
