SHILLONG: The body of one Celestine Kurbah was recovered from Umiam Lake in Ri Bhoi on Thursday. Police said that necessary formalities have been observed and the matter was under enquiry.

House gutted by fire   
SHILLONG: A house was gutted and properties worth lakhs destroyed in a fire at Nongmynsong. Police said that the incident happened on Thursday evening when a fire broke out in the house of one Parmonent Rai at Langkyrding, Nongmyn-song.
NGT ban violation
SHILLONG: Three persons, Prem Tamang, D.K Rai and Moni Chettri were arrested in West Khasi Hills.  According to Police, on January 13, the three were illegally extracting coal at Dapdien, Ruksang and Iurim villages (WJH), respectively.
