SHILLONG: Principal Secretary in charge PHE, P.W. Ingty, on Sunday said he has asked the chief engineer of the department to examine the allegation of a woman contractor being allegedly slapped by a junior engineer of the department.
“We will examine the complaint and as per the findings we will take necessary steps including action against the engineer since an FIR has already been filed,” Ingty said.
The alleged victim had written to  Ingty and the PHE chief engineer PHE demanding disciplinary action against the JE identified as Sainborsing Lyngdoh. The victim had also filed a case with Mawlai police station.
According to the victim, after the case was filed the accused absconded but later got an interim bail from the District Council Court.
The victim alleged that she was slapped by the JE on January 5 at around 10:30 PM after she had refused to accede to his demand for some commission from a PHE scheme.
