Three-day Public Information Campaign concludes

SHILLONG: The three-day Public Information Campaign (PIC) organized by the Press Information Bureau and other Central media units like AIR, DDK, DAVP, DFP and S&DD in collaboration with the District Administration, East Khasi Hills District came to an end here on Saturday with more than 30 line departments of the government-both Central and State taking active part in the programme.
The PIC witnessed active participation of local populace and people were seen asking questions to the government officials seeking enlightenment on various schemes offered by the government in various lines of works.  It may be reminded that PIC was inaugurated by Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan in the presence of local MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, P.S Dkhar, chieftain of Hima Khyrim, Balajied Sing Syiem and Sordar of Smit, K.M Syiem besides other dignitaries.
On the second day of the PIC, Social Welfare and Animal Husbandry and  Veterinary Minister, Deborah .C. Marak graced the occasion as the chief guest.
On the third and last day of the PIC on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills P.S Dkhar graced the valedictory function as the chief guest accompanied by Assistant Director of AIR, Shillong, Arkin Pariat and Assistant Director of PIB, Shillong, R. Murthy besides others.
Meanwhile, Dr Daniela from NEIGRIHMS said that the campaign was an opportunity not only for the public but also for different line departments to serve the public in a better way.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner handed over certificates and mementos to all the 32 line departments of the State and Central government which participated in the PIC. To mark the concluding event, the ICDS entertained the public with their short skit highlighting the importance of various government health schemes.
