Pressure group calls for release of contract amount

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Awakening National Movement (HANM), has come to the rescue of a contractor who failed to get the dues for setting up Reliance Towers.
HANM central body has threatened to seal all the Reliance towers if it fails to release an amount to a contractor who had helped the company to construct Reliance towers within 15 days.
Speaking to reporters, HANM president Lam Kharbani on Tuesday said, “The pending bill of the contractor Bakongsan Kharkongor is Rs 10 lakh.”
He further said that Kharkongor has not received his payment since 2008 even after the company’s tower has been constructed in Pynursla.
On the other hand, Kharkongor said he had approached the offices in Shillong and Gauhati on many occasions and the staff cited various excuses for pending bills.
He added that after taking up the matter with Pynursla police, one person was arrested.
Kharkongor had taken a sub-contract from Purekoke Company to construct the Reliance tower.  Kharbani met Sumangal Vhangkakty Circle Sec, F&A Head, NESA Guwahati, where the latter assured them that the pending money will be released.
