SHILLONG: The State government’s plan to inaugurate the ready to function abattoir at Mawlai Mawiong is likely to be delayed as the butchers have yet to be trained.
In her recent inspection, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Deborah Marak had asserted that the slaughter house cannot be inaugurated until the butchers, who will work at the slaughter house, are trained for the job.
Sources on Thursday said it is upon the concerned minister to contact the chief minister and fix the date for the inauguration of the project.
The abattoir has been constructed at a cost of Rs 22 crore by the Rapsang Group of Companies, Shillong, in collaboration with Real Growth Company, Chennai.
