North East Graduate Congress in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The long awaited North East Graduate Congress, an initiative of ERD Foundation and the only graduate congress in the country will be held on February 26, 27 & 28. The event is being organized by University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) in association with RIST, supported by State Bank of India. The venue of the Congress will be the USTM campus at 9th Mile, Khanapara.
The three days congress is aimed to enhance all round development and bring out the capabilities of the future graduates through various life skill processes to bring out their inherent qualities and expose them to various opportunities. Chief Ministers, vice chancellors, reputed authors, motivational speakers and directors of different organizations, achievers in various fields, entrepreneurs, scientists and experts from the various domains from within the country will grace the event. Renowned motivational speakers Ajay Misra, Thomas John Rose and Brig. Sunil Kumar Moudgil have been invited to address different sessions.
The different technical sessions spread over three days will focus on entrepreneurship, soft skills, employability – problems and prospects, competitive examinations, personality development, etc. There will be a panel discussion on “Contribution of Youth in Nation Building”. Besides, there will be different competitions like best graduate, dance, song, debate, quiz, skit, photography etc. where the youth can participate and represent their respective college or institutions. The topic for the debate is “Education system in India has failed to produce productive human resources”. There will be a writing competition on the topic “Are today’s youth as smart as their smart phones”. The write up should not exceed more than 500 words.  Laptops, iPods and cash award will be given to all the winners.
A colorful cultural program will also be organized in the evening of the second day where Zubin Garg and the Indian Idol finalist Nahid Afrin along with many other cultural icons will display a voluntary performance to entertain the student and the other participants.
The organizers of the event are expecting participation of approximately ten thousand students from all over the Northeastern states besides 3500 student of RIST & USTM for which elaborate arrangements has been planned. All participants will be provided with free accommodation and food. Students of all streams of undergraduate courses will be eligible to participate.
