SHILLONG: A city court has awarded four-and-half-year jail term to a person for molesting a minor girl and for subsequent bid to rape her at Mawlai Umjaiur three years back.
The incident happened on February 6, 2013 when the accused Kitboklang Kharsyntiew molested one minor girl and also attempted to rape her.
Delivering the verdict on the case (u/s 354/376(2)(g)/511 IPC R/W Sec. 5(m)(n)/6 POCSO Act) on February 11, the court imposed a Rs 5,000 on Kharsyntiew and in default, a further term of imprisonment of one month.
