Man robbed off Rs 2 lakh at Iewduh
SHILLONG: Unknown miscreants stole a bag containing Rs 2 lakh from Iewduh. Police said the miscreants stole a bag belonging to one Iengskhem Wahlang from Rice Line, Iewduh, which contained cash Rs 2 lakh, ATM card, bank passbook and driving license, on Wednesday morning.

Auto driver ‘rapes’ girl in Tura
SHILLONG: A girl was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver in Tura. The incident allegedly happened on Sunday when Walnang Marak sent one girl in an auto-rickshaw (ML-08B-0734) driven by Sendrick Ch Momin to be dropped at Ringrey, Tura. However, the auto driver took her to Rongkhon Songgital, Tura, and allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences. When contacted, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said an FIR has been filed and the matter was being investigated by Tura Women PS.

BSF IG transferred to Delhi
SHILLONG: Meghalaya BSF Frontier IG Sudesh Kumar has been transferred to BSF headquarters in New Delhi. BSF officials informed that Pawan Kumar Dubey from BSF headquarters will replace Sudesh Kumar as the IG of Meghalaya Frontier within a few days. Sudesh Kumar had taken charge as IG on August 1, 2014. Kumar has also had one of the most prestigious assignments in the United Nations as Police Commissioner in the Congo and had been awarded President Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2003.

Bangladeshis nabbed
SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Silbari, South Garo Hills, on Wednesday apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals while they were infiltrating into India on a bike. Later they were handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The apprehended persons were identified as Abdul Halim and Azhar-ul-Islam, both from Mymensing district of Bangladesh. The BSF party recovered six mobile phones and several Bangladeshi SIMs from their possession.
