SHILLONG: The opposing Myntris of the Hima Mylliem have alleged that the Deputy Syiem, Paiem Thwelson Manik Syiem, who presided over the Dorbar Pyllun, concluded the meeting without clarifying on some of the important issues.
The 28 Myntris, who were opposing Paiem Latho Manik Syiem, expressed discontentment over the sudden end of the meeting without coming clear on issues pertaining to land and the market (Bara bazaar).
The meeting was held at the order of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) following the receipt of a complaint from the 28 Myntris that no Dorbar has been held since the time of Latho Manik Syiem.
Altogether 40 Myntris attended the meeting.
“We want clarification on the handover of the land at Mawpat to some Church bodies, the setting up of shops at Iewduh, so far nothing was taken up,” Myntri Jamphrang Nongkhlaw said while speaking to reporters after the meeting.
The 28 Myntris made a firm stand by demanding the removal of Latho Manik Syiem for his alleged embezzlement of the Hima’s finances while the Deputy Syiem have refused to pay heed to their demands prompting the rebel Myntris to sign a memorandum and handing it over to the observers of the KHADC with the expectation that the KHADC will do the needful.
On the other hand, the deputy syiem pointed that in the Mylliem Act, no mention is made of any rule which makes it mandatory to convene the Dorbar, and according to him it is up to the executive committee to convene the meeting.
“To discuss important matters a platform of the Dorbar Hima serves the right purpose and not Dorbar Pyllun,” Deputy Syiem said.
While another Myntri supporting the current Syiem said that the issue of the land at Mawpat was handed by the Myntris who opposed the Syiem.
