Cabinet approves constitution of panel for revision of ‘Assam rules’

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has approved the constitution of Administration Rules and Regulation Revision Advisory Committee for revision of various rules and acts.
Speaking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the State Government has adopted many rules and acts from erstwhile Assam and it’s time some of them are revised.
The Chief Minister informed that the committee will be headed by a retired senior officer.
According to Sangma, all the ministries in the Centre are supported by a strong cadre structure but the same was not the case in the states.
Reacting to a query, he said that the State Government has zeroed down on some retired senior officers for heading the committee which will be constituted for a period of a year.
New directorate
The State Cabinet on Friday approved the constitution of Directorate of Information Technology and Communication. This was informed by the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma after the meeting.
Also approved was the extension of services of Secretary, Finance Economic Affairs department DT Kharshiing for a period of three months. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is not in a position to lose an officer during closing of the financial year since the   Government is loaded with responsibilities for considerations, sanctions and proposals.
The State Cabinet also approved the regularization of the ordinance for the contingency fund of Meghalaya Amendment Ordinance 2015 since the Budget session is scheduled to begin from March 4.
