SHILLONG:  Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has favoured deferring of the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the context of alleged discrepancies in the implementation of the scheme.
This was communicated to the members of the pressure groups during their meeting with the Chief Minister after the matter was raised by the KSU on Friday.
Earlier , a delegation of the KSU which met the Chief Minster  demanded  putting on hold the current exercise of distribution of supplies under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) until all deserving citizens are brought under its ambit. In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, the KSU expressed disappointment over the manner in which the entire process was carried out.
“It defies logic and is unjust to the indigenous tribal populace especially the weaker sections of the society,” the KSU said adding that the masses have been deprived of scheme due to the irresponsible and negligent socio-economic census conducted by the census employees.
They further questioned the criteria for obtaining the benefit of the scheme which is plagued with confusion.
The Union also raised questions over the alleged deletion of names of locals from the list of beneficiaries and the inclusion of “outsiders in the list.”
