Senior cop suspended
SHILLONG: The commandant of the 5th MLP Battalion Aditya Goenka has been placed under suspension and an departmental inquiry has been initiated against him.
Informing this here on Monday, sources said Goenka was placed under suspension as he went on ‘leave’ without informing the police headquarters in the month of January.
All attempts to contact Goenka turned out to be futile exercise as he switched off his mobile.
Housing units inaugurated
SHILLONG: Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday inaugurated 160 units of the Nongmynsong housing complex. Officials said that though the beneficiaries have been finalized, a meeting will be held on Tuesday to discuss formal hand-over of the houses.
Husband held
SHILLONG: Police have arrested one Rabik Ali for allegedly setting his wife on fire at Ichamati, Shella in East Khasi Hills. The incident happened on Sunday night. The condition of the victim, who sustained 45 to 50 percent burn injuries, is stated to be serious.
