Fishing body lauds Govt effort to save Myntdu

SHILLONG: The Jaintia Fishing and Environment Protection Association has expressed its gratitude to the District Administration West Jaintia Hills in connection with the imposition of Section 144 CrPc prohibitory order to protect Myntdu River by Deputy Commissioner Arunkumar Kembhavi.
A a general meeting of the association held on February 20 stated that they will co-operate with the District Administration.
The association has urged all citizens of the District to co-operate with the association.
The association said that section 144CrPC will prevent disposal of any form of garbage, acidic runoff and washing of vehicles near the river.The order also prevents collection and extraction of sand, the association said, while urging the people to stop washing clothes at check dams.
