TURA: Social organizations from Garo Hills have submitted a memorandum to newly appointed NEHU Vice Chancellor, Prof S K Srivastav with regard to the upgradation of the NEHU, Tura Campus.
The leaders of social bodies including the Senior Citizens Forum, A’chik Literature Society, Mothers Union, Vision Plus, GGU and Council of Nokmas in their memorandum made an appeal for the appointment of a full time Pro Vice Chancellor, setting up of new departments like Public Administration, Economics and Statistics Environmental Studies, Forestry, Chemistry and Botany.
They also wanted regularization of contractual staff and out-sourced personnel, filling up of posts of Assistant registrars, Deputy and Assistant Librarian, Junior Engineers and Section Officers, creation of more teaching posts in existing nine academic departments, appointment of junior doctor and paramedics, construction of quarters for Pro VC and Deputy Registrar and games and sports facilities to students and staff.
