SHILLONG: Congress legislator P N Syiem, who has been vocal against Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for passing the dual-post Bill without due consultations in the last September session, on Thursday said that  he would not raise the matter in the Assembly, but asserted that the issues concerning the people of the state especially the lingering problem of empowerment of headmen, extension of MUDA bylaws beyond the urban centers  among others will be raised by him when these are discussed in the Assembly.
Syiem, who is also CEM of the Khasi Autonomous District Council (KHADC),  also indicated that when any issue related to headmen is taken up in the Assembly, he may also take part in the discussion related to the amendment to service rules which makes it mandatory for the government employees who are headmen to seek prior permission from the government.
The KHADC had already protested against the amendment of the service rule by the state government.
Asked why he will not be raising the issue of dual post in the Assembly, Syiem said,” Why should I be selfish to raise  the issue concerning me after I became the lone survivor after the dual post Bill took effect. This is not good, but others are free to raise the matter”.
To a query, the CEM said since he was pre-occupied, he could not attend the CLP meeting convened by the Chief Minister on Wednesday
