SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Monday revealed that as many as 358 persons including some retired government officials were employed under the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority.
Replying to a question by Ardent Basaiawmoit (HSPDP), the chief minister told the House that there are employees appointed to function from the blocks, districts and also from Shillong.
To a question, the chief minister asserted that no fund was transferred from the State government departments to the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme (IBDLP). According to the chief minister, the government was pulling in resources from IFAD, financial institutions and others for sustaining IBDLP.
He also added that IBDP is only a catalyst and it is not expected to provide funds to the beneficiaries directly.
