Block-I area residents asked to deposit arms

JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has directed all weapon license holders living in the border areas with Assam under Block-I to deposit their weapons along with duplicate copies of their license to their      respective police stations and outposts and the same will be released after the Assam Legislative Assembly election is over.
The order has been issued in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas of Assam and Meghalaya during the upcoming election in Assam.
“However, anyone aggrieved by the order may approach the competent authority for modification, waiver, alteration and recession,” stated a release issued here.
