Nominations filed for April 4 Assembly poll in Assam

Guwahati: Assam PWD Minister Ajanta Neog, Asom Gana Parishad president Atul Bora among others from ruling Congress, opposition BJP and BPF filed their nomination papers on Thursday for the first phase of polling for the state Assembly on April 4.
Ajanta Neog submitted her nomination papers as Congress nominee for Golaghat constituency, Atul Bora for Bokakhat, sitting Congress MLA Rana Goswami for Jorhat, while former minister during AGP regime filed his papers from BJP also for Jorhat, the election office said.
BJP’s Dulan Nayak filed for Moriani, Mrinal Saikia for for Khumtai, while AGP’s Binod Gowala and Congress’ Roselina Tirkey did for Sarupathar.
Sitting Bodo Peoples’ Front MLA Majendra Narzary filed his nomination papers for his Gossaigaon seat.
During the first phase of election on April 4 voting will be held for 65 of the 126 Assembly constituencies spread across Barak Valley, the two hill districts of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong, besides upper Assam in the Brahmaputra Valley.
Chief Minister and Congress nominee Tarun Gogoi from Titabor and Sonowal will go to the polls in the first phase of hustings. The last date for filing nominations is Friday. (PTI)
