Nagaland Assembly passes budget

Kohima: The Nagaland Assembly on Saturday passed a surplus budget for 2016-17 amounting to Rs 13,658.74 crore by voice vote.
The budget imposed no fresh tax.
The budget 2016-17 has an increase of Rs 1066.06 crore over the previous year, which was Rs. 12,592.69 crore.
The Budget was laid in the House on March 17 by Chief Minister T R Zeliang, who also holds Finance Portfolio.
It was passed through Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2016 authorising payment and appropriation of Rs 13658,74,56,000 out of the Consolidated Fund of the State of Nagaland to the services of the year ending March 31, 2017.
Subsequently, Speaker Chotisuh Sazo adjourned the 11th session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly sine die after announcing the constitution of various financial and non-financial committees and panel of chairmen for 2016-17. (PTI)
