SHILLONG: National EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), Day with a theme ‘Called to Care’ was celebrated on Saturday at GVK EMRI – Meghalaya operations office. Peter. S. Dkhar, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of the GVK EMRI State Operations Head, Deepankar Choudhury and EMLC (Emergency Medical Learning Center) Dr. Tiameren Jamir.
While addressing the gathering Dkhar lauded the efforts of the EMTs and appreciated their quick response to emergencies in the community. He further added that the job profile of the EMT requires them to work in difficult and stressful situation round the clock. The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that since 108 emergency service started its operation in the state, instances of people involved in road accident being let unattended have decreased.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated seven best EMT of the year based on their performances.
