Farmers urged to revive organic farming

JOWAI: Shillong Member of Parliament, Vincent H Pala has asked farmers of the state to revive organic farming as this has received considerable attention in the country.  This form of farming helps is enhancing the fertility of the soil he said.
Inaugurating the Farmers Fair and Awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna on Saturday at Chutwakhu Hall, Jrisalein, Jowai organized by the Krishni Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jaintia Hills, Pala also stressed on the importance of the Crop Insurance Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna) and encouraged the farmers to take full benefit of the scheme that will provide insurance coverage and financial support in time of losses of crops due to natural calamities or if they get destroyed by pests or disease.
Pala also lauded the KVK, Jaintia Hills for the success of the programme attended by more than 200 farmers and hoped that the farmers will take benefit of this scheme.
Director of Agriculture D. Syiemiong elaborated on the importance of the scheme and requested the farmers to get their crops insured.
