SHILLONG: The NPP-led Executive Committee of GHADC has received a boost when the independent MDC from Balachanda, Sofiur Rahman, who was earlier supporting Congress, joined the ruling fold.
With this, the strength of ruling Garo Hills People’s Alliance has risen to 16 in the House of 29 whereas the Opposition has only13 members.
Informing this, the GHADC CEM Denang Sangma said that Rahman extended support to the NPP-led without any pre-condition.
Earlier, Rahman had expressed concern over the debate on the participation of non- tribals in GHADC polls which ultimately compelled him to join the NPP fold.
