SHILLONG: Following allegations that Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has set up illegal toll gates, district council chief P.N. Syiem said the KHADC has the right to check trucks plying on the Ranikor and Borsora road which falls under the constituency of KHADC Chairman Manstudy Nongrem.
“Most of the trucks are running without challans and we have the right to check if the coal laden trucks are running without challans as it will cause loss of revenue to the KHADC,” Syiem told reporters on Thursday.
“The KHADC has to set up the gates to plug in leakages of revenue,” he added.    On being queried whether illegal collection is carried out by the KHADC, he said the matter will be investigated and action will be taken against those found involved.
