SHILLONH: With Shillong city witnessing high velocity wind in the last couple of days, the State Government has asserted that the housing schemes being implemented in the state have been designed to resist such wind.
Officials from the Urban Affairs Department informed that all factors such as wind speed and other requirements are being taken into consideration while designing the houses.
Stating that the department uses CGI sheets in the houses constructed under various government schemes in the state, officials said that the roof needs to be properly anchored to avoid being blown away by high velocity wind.
The official also informed that as of now, there is no report of any damage to houses constructed under housing scheme in the squall that hit the state on Tuesday.
