Tour to BOP to facilitate interaction between villagers, BSF

SHILLONG: In an effort to facilitate interaction between border population and the Border Security Force, Meghalaya frontier organized a tour for villagers of West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills to BOP Dangar.
The tour was joined by the chairman and secretary of FORMLD, Dolois of Sapator and Darang, Matabor, Umniuh Tmar, Sardars of Lyngkhat, Mawshun & Mukertilla, headman of Dawki and their secretaries and other villagers.
During the tour which the village leaders were familiarized with the functioning of Border Haat and International Border Fencing which has considerably reduced illegal movement across the International Border and also have curbed trans-border crimes.
The villagers were also shown the cultivation of land between border pillar and the fencing.
The tour was basically organized to appraise the locals about the importance of Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence and its utility in which the contribution of border population is very significant.
The BSF said that the possibility of cultivation of land ahead of IBBF will remain as always was made them understand by showing the similar area in South West Khasi Hills district. The presence of media representatives with the visitors made the tour more meaningful.
